Life Transforming Prayer - Lord Lessen Me

These eight weeks we have been diving into life transforming prayer have been some of my favorite. I can't believe our eight weeks has come to a close but look for a new Tuesday series starting next week - Life Lessons Learned on the Road. Until then, enjoy our last of the Life Transforming Prayers...

He (Jesus) must become greater. I must become less.
John 3:30

Do more. Get more. Be more. These messages bounce around my life like a pinball machine gone mad. Sometimes the more within my reach isn't the one I should grasp. What if instead...

I do more with Jesus.

I get more of Jesus.

I be more like Jesus.

Trying to follow a long list of rules or live up to never-ending expectations covers my life with a cloud of less-than. I do want to live in a way that honors God. I do desire to encourage and energize my family. But the key for me is not to pray over my multitude of perceived flaws but to pray Lord, Lessen Me.

Less of me makes room for more of Him.

Lord, make me less so my life makes much of You.

What is one way your life needs to be less?

  4. i am always longing for less "input" i live in the city and i know it overwhelms my sense. so part of my needing less is finding quiet spaces, like long walks in the country and throwing rocks in the river. i can tell not only, i, but my kids really bloom with less buzz in the air.

  5. Love coming here and reading what you share Shannon! So thankful for His words through you. More of Him just kept echoing for me. It's such a sweet exchange to give up myself for that more that He so graciously offers. Thanks for sharing! Blessings!

  8. Shannon, I need to be less mama bear! There it is. I said it...
Why is it that I STILL can't trust God to work out the details of my kids' lives?
Thankfully, He forgives and gives me a second chance.... and a third.... and a fourth!

Thankfully, too, I have friends who speak truth when I get in that frenzied place! (Thanks!)

Off to give my situation to God, AGAIN!

  9. More of Him, less of me...More of Him, less of me...

Can you hear me chanting over here in Western PA? All the way to Chick-fil-A. Haha!

Not really. I wish we were headed there. We don't have one nearby, unfortunately. I love that place!!

And I love THIS place too. Thank you for the past 8 weeks of inspiration. :)

  10. once again-- every time I come to visit-- its another post I need to read-- I definitely need to pray to be less unforgiving and to slow down on my to do list-- I feel like every second of my day is accounted for and none of that time is with HIM-- thanks for this-- I needed it :)
