When she carried her own burdens, they weighted her down. They seemed impossible. Written down they were small. Just a few pieces of paper. His hands were big enough to hold them all.
A few days after she showed me the box, she began to see God specifically answer some of her prayers. Her trust in Him grew. Her faith flourished.
There is power in writing down our hopes, dreams and prayers. We would be wise to follow my daughter's example and find a special place to store them. And the very best place will be His heart.
This is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. I might make a box also for my daughter like this, for her to know more about God.

DeleteThat is so sweet! And SMART! I just today wrote on my blog (while advocating for churches to host support groups for folks with depression) that my anxieties always sound smaller outside my head than they do inside it. It's amazing what getting our hopes and fears and dreams OUT can do. I may just have to make myself a box - and share it with someone.

Julie, I'm thrilled to hear about you championing support groups. Our church, Hope in Cordova, has just about every support group there is meeting there throughout the week. It is a precious thing when broken people just like us can welcome others just as they are and help them find hope and healing.

Shannon, I love the idea of a prayer box for my daughters. Thank you for sharing your daughter's inspiration. I'm going to suggest it to my daughter. She loves making things and decorating them with her own style. I think she will really embrace the concept of handing her prayers over to God.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Because I have a concentration disorder I always write my prayers in a notebook. To organizer my mind while I write. So I stay more focused in what I do.
