Need an ATM...An Automatic Trust Mechanism?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

Trust Issues.

It sounds like a term that should apply to a wealthy heiress who can't decide how to spend her millions. Instead it applies to an average girl like me wants to spend her moments at peace and her minutes making an impact. I have trust issues.

My trust issues make me shrink back. I withdraw...and no cash comes out. Only tears, worry and uncertainty. People trigger my lack of trust but God holds the code to my ATM - my Automatic Trust Mechanism. It's when I focus on Him my problem shifts into perspective.

Do you ever wish trusting God was like a trip to the ATM - something you could accomplish in a single transaction? I used to think if I had "enough" faith I wouldn't have trust issues. But what is my trust issue is actually a trust opportunity?

I was a guest at another blog today and we're discussing this very thing. I invite you to click here and join the conversation today!

What issue has your heart limping today? Why not leap into His arms instead?

  1. Yep, Shannon. I'm standing over here, raising my arm up to answer the question of Who has trust issues? Great post on the other site as well. This really rings true as we move forward in our new surroundings, having to put my trust in people I hardly know well yet.

    1. Moving is draining in pretty much every sense. Each time I've felt that deep sense of wanting to have people to depend on and being so thrilled as God provided good friends to do so.

  3. i have a few trust issues that are certainly there for valid reasons. i try to be conscious of these issues so that they do not affect my overall character or approach on life and relationships. i really do trust that things are the way that they are meant to be and i am the only in control of making the best choices to follow that path.

  4. I agree with Christine that things can be meant to be, but you do have total control over your choices.

Agreed, trust is difficult. I give most people a chance to earn my trust but never give it away for free, Trusting someone is your choice and you can choose to respect that person enough to earn your trust.

    1. I've found giving and getting trust even works this way with our teens. When we actively work to earn their trust, we get it. :)

  6. TRUST...so hard to earn and so easy to lose. thank goodness we can always "start over" by going back to God and getting a new batch of trust.
