Day Five
Rest for Your Body
Proverbs 3:24b When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
How can one wake and feel as if the night vanished without the benefit of sleep? You’re living on afternoon coffee, power naps and vitamins. A cold threatens. Your stomach feels unsettled. Your joints and your brain ache. Exhausted one, come find rest for your body.
Today I Pray for You:
· To have deep, uninterrupted sleep–sweet, reenergizing, restoring sleep
· That God would guard your body and keep it running strong
Today You Pray:
Creator of my being, flow into every space. I breathe you in like a breath of heaven itself. You are my energy. You are my rest.
I come to Your shelter, rest my head on Your lap and trust You to shield my body. I seek You with a longing heart. You know best how to care for me. Help me make wise choices in food, activity and sleep. Rest my body as I rest in You.
So needed and so lacking in my busy life!
ReplyDeleteMorning Shannon,
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny.........that is another of my fav verses. I learned to quote that years ago when my hubby had to travel and I would get sort of anxious at bedtime, I was fine until after I put
the kids to bed, but that verse and the one about the angel of the Lord encamps about those who love him, became my lifeline to peace!
Love these prayers you write, they are beautiful and eloquent and practical all at the same time.
Have a Wonderful day hon,
Blessings, Nellie
Thank you so much Shannon for this prayer guide. The last few days have been busy and I did not get to read them.. need to rest more :) have more time with the Word. Many blessings to you for bringing this to us.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord is so good - He heard your prayers before this was published. Got a call at 9 last night that my favorite aunt died suddenly yesterday. She was old but it's still a shock to get 'the call.' When I went to bed, I thought there's no way I would sleep. But I went right to sleep and slept well. Thank you for praying and for this series!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mary
Rebekah, I'm with you sister. Last night I went to sleep early and had sweet, sweet sleep. Praying the same for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm bad about taking the time to let myself rest. I always put everyone in the household in front of my own needs :) New follower from the wild wednesday hop, have a great evening! You can find me at

Hi Shannon~This is so good! Sleep doesn't come easy for me so this really hits home.I'm going to print this, If it's okay with you, so I can pray it every night.
ReplyDeleteThank you and God bless...Chelle
Nellie, so cool that God wants to speak directly to our hearts. He is writing our present as He weaves the past into our future with Him.
ReplyDeleteTracy, so thankful you can pause in your busyness and find a moment with God. I know He refreshed you as you do.
ReplyDeleteMary, praying right now for you and your family as you both grieve and celebrate your aunt's life. It is a privilege to walk and pray with you as you mourn.
ReplyDeleteFrugual in WV, is that not the truth, sister? The mom gives and gives to the point of exhaustion. But God stands at the ready to fill us back up. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteWow Chelle, what an honor to have this near your bedside as you sleep. May your sleep tonight come easy, last long and restore your body.
ReplyDeleteOh how much I need this. I realized how much I go without rest when I got a text late one night from a lady in my bible study group that start out with "I am texting you since I know you are awake(you never sleep)....
ReplyDeleteAmy, that is too funny! Praying you find rest and it floods your soul with refreshment!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful prayer! And so helpful to so many. I am my own worst enemy when is comes to getting enough sleep.
ReplyDeleteI love this prayer guide you've been doing. So beautiful and so perfect for fellow moms. I appreciate today's prayer because it focuses on rest and healing/having a strong body. As I continue to train for my first half-marathon (my own personal run for the glory of God) in October, I find myself feeling somewhat anxious over the thought of getting sick...since we are entering that time of year, especially with back to school. I pray God will help me find rest when I need it and strengthen my body in preparation for this run which I know will be a beautiful and deeply personal worship experience.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Rosann
